The Bottom Line
Hilary Duff returns with "Wake Up," a new single from her upcoming greatest hits collection Most Wanted. This record makes a serious bid for being the pop anthem of summer 2005. Duff's sweet teen voice is backed by classic teen pop beats as she breaks into a near perfect singalong chorus. It should be all over the radio within weeks.

Guide Review - Wake Up - Hilary Duff
If you think buoyant teen pop has been swallowed in the rock-edged music of Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson, and Ashlee Simpson, you need to hear "Wake Up," the new single by Hilary Duff. Even though summer is more than half over, "Wake Up" may prove to be THE pop anthem of summer 2005. While Britney and Jessica have turned toward a more adult, risque image, 17-year-old Hilary Duff shows us that a significant part of being a teenager is simply having fun hanging out with friends.
Effortless, jangly pop and light electronic dance beats support Duff's bright teen vocals on "Wake Up." The lyrics reveal an undercurrent of loneliness inherent in living the life of a teen star, but Saturday night is the perfect respite from life's pressures. The singalong chorus is nearly perfect and a great one to share with friends.
Although she's only released 2 complete albums, Hilary Duff is putting out a compilation album titled Most Wanted in August that will feature "Wake Up" and 3 other new tracks. She has also embarked on a concert tour in support of the new music. Hilary Duff should be on a hot streak as the school year 2005-2006 begins. The video for "Wake Up" is a must-see as well (check out Hilary with dark hair!).
