Fans of Elton John still don't really know exactly what all of the imagery in "Levon" means. According to the song, Levon has a son Jesus who is born on a Christmas Day when the New York Times says "God is dead." That's a heady mix of concepts right there. However, like most Elton John and Bernie Taupin classics, it all sounds fantastic regardless of how obtuse in meaning the lyrics may be.
