Gorillaz are a cartoon band that have found a sweet spot in the intersection of rock, hip hop, and dance music. It's easy to see how the concept could fail terribly, but in the talented hands of the band Blur's Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett, Gorillaz have been a tremendous success. They even secured a spot performing as holograms alongside Madonna to open the 2006 Grammy Awards celebration.
