From her first recordings that made her a star in the early 1990's, Mary J. Blige has always seemed to be a couple of steps ahead of the competition. She introduced white audiences to the concept of crunk on her massive hit "Family Affair." Then she showed all performers how to really let it all out with her performance of "No More Drama" at the Grammy Awards. This past fall Mary J. Blige demonstrated she could rock when she performed "One" with U2 to aid survivors of Hurricane Katrina. Her latest album The Breakthrough has already gone double platinum in its first 3 months of release. The future is wide open for Mary J. Blige.
