Jack and Meg White of White Stripes are an artsy rock critic's dream become flesh. Jack White demonstrates a nearly encyclopedic knowledge of gutbucket blues, rootsy Americana, and pop hooks. If that isn't enough, the duo's artistic sense of visual elements includes naming an album after the early 20th century aesthetic movement De Stijl. This could all be incredibly tedious to observe except that White Stripes frequently add a thoroughly disarming sense of humor and the absurd.
