1. Kelly Clarkson - My December
Anticipated Release Date - June 26, 2007
If controversy and discussion are good for album sales, this highly personal set of songs should be a monster from Kelly Clarkson. Rumors leaked about differences of opinion on the music with label personnel and legendary exec/producer Clive Davis. Simon Cowell even felt compelled to come to Clarkson's defense in an interview. The opening single "Never Again" has introduced the most fiercely rocking Kelly Clarkson yet.
2. Rihanna - Good Girl Gone Bad
Anticipated Release Date - June 5, 2007
Rihanna claims this will be her most uptempo album yet. It will also include collaborations with Ne-Yo, Timbaland, and Justin Timberlake. The lead single "Umbrella" was accompanied a distinctly sexy, adult video.
3. 50 Cent - Curtis
Anticipated Release Date - September 4, 2007
Curtis is 50 Cent's given first name. His last studio album The Massacre sold over 1 million copies in its first week of release. The initial announced release date for this project was June, 2007, but it has now been pushed to be the album that will close out a hot summer on September 4, 2007. A wide range of collaborators are listed for the project including Eminem, Akon, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, and Kanye West.
4. T.I. - T.I. Vs. TIP
Anticipated Release Date - July 3, 2007
T.I.'s last album King sold over half a million copies in its first release. He remained less than a household name to pop fans until his collaboration with Justin Timberlake on the massive #1 pop hit "My Love." The subject matter of this album is expected to be a battle of personalities that T.I. finds within himself.
5. Bon Jovi - Lost Highway
Anticipated Release Date - June 19, 2007
With the success of last year's single "Who Says You Can't Go Home?" Bon Jovi are planning to inject a bit more country into their sound. The band gained fantastic exposure this spring when Jon Bon Jovi appeared as the best contestant coach of the season. The lead single for the project is "(You Want To) Make a Memory."
6. Enrique Iglesias - Insomniac
Anticipated Release Date - June 12, 2007
Many pop music fans have missed Enrique. He has not produced a top 10 pop single since 2001's "Hero." However, fans are quietly buying his new single "Do You Know? (The Ping Pong Song)" and pushing it up the charts. Rapper Lil' Wayne is one of the guest artists on Insomniac.
7. Smashing Pumpkins - Zeitgeist
Anticipated Release Date - July 10, 2007
For many rock and alternative music fans, Smashing Pumpkins' decision to break up in 2000 was a tragedy. At their peak, the band had 2 consecutive albums that sold 5 million copies are more as well as producing 4 top 40 singles from Melon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. The new album includes production work from Roy Thomas Baker, best known as producer of classic music by Queen and the Cars.
8. White Stripes - Icky Thump
Anticipated Release Date - June 19, 2007
The last studio album Get Behind Me, Satan was a commercial breakthrough for the duo reaching #3 on the album chart and including the single "Blue Orchid" which just missed becoming their first top 40 single. The lead single, the album's title song, has already become a top 40 hit and White Stripes' biggest single yet.
9. Paul McCartney - Memory Almost Full
Anticipated Release Date - June 5, 2007
Although he has been mired in a very ugly headline-grabbing divorce, Paul McCartney seems to have found energy working with Grammy Award winning producer David Kahne. The lead single is "Dance Tonight."
10. Natasha Bedingfield - N.B.
Anticipated Release Date - August 7, 2007
Natasha Bedingfield's sophomore release is already available in Europe. Her subject matter this time is primarily love and relationships.
