Episode 15 of Glee's season 3 centered on the aftermath of Quinn's car accident while texting and the visit from out of town of Blaine's older brother Cooper.
1. "I'm Still Standing"
This episode of Glee kicked off with Rachel and Finn discussing the fact they didn't get married due to Quinn's car accident on her way to the ceremony. At that point Quinn came down the hall in her wheelchair to announce that this was one of the best days of her life, and she sings "I'm Still Standing" as a duet with Artie from their wheelchairs. "I'm Still Standing" was released in 1983 as a single by Elton John representing his attitude about life and his career. It was the second single from the album Too Low For Zero and peaked in the top 5 on the pop chart in the UK and #12 in the US.
2. "Hungry Like the Wolf / Rio"
Blaine performs this mash-up of Duran Duran classics with his visiting brother Cooper. They are reminiscing about past days singing together. Unfortunately, the fun quickly goes sour when Cooper begins touting his own talent and criticizing Blaine's performance. "Hungry Like the Wolf," released in 1982, was Duran Duran's breakthrough pop hit in the US peaking at #3. It was a top 5 hit in the UK as well. "Rio" was their next pop hit in the US peaking at #14 and becoming the group's fourth top 10 at home in the UK. Both songs are included on the album Rio.
3. "Fighter"
Tension continues to mount in the episode between Blaine and his brother Cooper. Blaine realizes that the continual criticism and negativity helped make him stronger and a "Fighter." The song was recorded by Christina Aguilera for her album Stripped. It was one of her first songs to include a strong rock feel. "Fighter" climbed to #20 on the Billboard Hot 100, but it was a top 5 pop radio hit. It was ultimately certified gold for sales.
4. "Up Up Up"
It is Senior Skip Day in Lima, Ohio, and most students are going to the Six Flags amusement park for the day. However, Artie and Quinn head to a park to watch and perform daredevil acts riding in their wheelchairs. The soundtrack for all of the Senior Skip Day activities is the song "Up Up Up" originally recorded by indie pop band the Givers. "Up Up Up" is included on the 2011 album In Light. The Givers will perform at this year's Coachella Festival.
5. "Somebody That I Used To Know"
As the animosity comes to a head, Kurt lets his boyfriend Blaine know that the older brother Cooper would like to talk before he leaves Ohio. Blaine does not know what to say, but he decides perhaps he can communicate in song. The choice is Gotye's current hit single "Somebody That I Used To Know." The song has hit #1 in countries around the world and is currently at #3 in the US. It has topped both the alternative songs and rock songs charts. "Somebody That I Used To Know" has sold more than a million copies in the US for platinum certification while being certified a phenomenal nine times platinum at home in Australia.
