Calvin Harris' follow up to his US breakthrough "Feel So Close" leads this week's top new pop songs. He gets an assist through a strong featured vocal from Ne-Yo.
1. Calvin Harris - "Let's Go" featuring Ne-Yo
Scottish dance pop producer and artist Calvin Harris follows his US solo breakthrough "Feel So Close" with this Ne-Yo collaboration. It debuted at #2 this week on the UK pop singles chart. It is his third consecutive single to peak at #2 in the UK.
2. Azealia Banks - "212" featuring Lazy Jay
US rapper Azealia Banks ranked #3 on the BBC's Sounds of 2012 poll making her one of the top new artists to watch this year. This song was released in the UK back in December 2011 and peaked at #12 on the UK pop singles chart. A number of British publications listed "212" as one of their top songs of 2011. The song's name comes from the area code 212 which covers Azealia Banks' native Harlem.
3. Wiz Khalifa - "Work Hard, Play Hard"
Rapper Wiz Khalifa was the top new artist of 2011. "Work Hard, Play Hard" is the first single from his upcoming second studio album O.N.I.F.C.. For this single he worked with pop oriented producers Benny Blanco and Stargate. The new song quickly landed in the top 10 on the iTunes digital sales chart.
4. Conor Maynard - "Can't Say No"
19 year old Conor Maynard is sometimes seen as the UK's answer to Justin Bieber. "Can't Say No" has reached #2 on the UK pop singles chart. It is the first single from his upcoming debut album Contrast expected to hit stores in the UK July 30, 2012. The music video for "Can't Say No" has generated over five million views.
5. Usher - "Scream"
Usher returns to club music on the new single "Scream." It is the second release from the upcoming album Looking For Myself which is scheduled to hit stores June 12, 2012. Pop producers Max Martin and Shellback worked on the song. Usher refers to his combination of electronic, R&B and pop music as "Revolutionary Pop."
6. Stefano - "I'm On a Roll" featuring New Boyz and Rock Mafia
Stefano Langone finished seventh on American Idol in 2011. He received a recording contract from Hollywood Records. His first single is firmly in line with contemporary dance pop. A debut album is expected later this summer.
7. Flo Rida - "Whistle"
Flo Rida has already released two platinum certified top 10 pop hit singles from the upcoming Only One Rida (Part 2) album. This is the third single from the project. It is already a top 10 pop hit in Australia. The album is expected to hit stores June 25, 2012.
8. Goodie Mob featuring Cee Lo Green - "Fight To Win"
Cee Lo Green first gained acclaim as part of the southern hip hop group Goodie Mob. This is the group's first music with Cee Lo Green since 1999. The three Goodie Mob albums that included Cee Lo Green have all been certified gold. The group hit #1 on the rap chart with their 1995 single "Cell Therapy."
9. iamamiwhoami - "Idle Talk"
iamamiwhoami is an electronic music project led by Swedish singer-songwriter Jonna Lee. The released music from the project has used social media and the Internet as well as cultivated mystery to spread interest in the music. A debut album titled kin is expected June 11, 2012.
10. Beach Boys - "That's Why God Made the Radio"
Legendary pop group the Beach Boys are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year. This is the title song from their first album featuring all living original members in decades. The group will go on tour to celebrate the anniversary and introduce their new music.
