Top 10 New Pop Songs December 11, 2012


Colbie Caillat teams up with Gavin DeGraw for an almost old-fashioned pop ballad to lead off this week's best new songs.

While they were on tour this summer adult pop stars Colbie Caillat and Gavin DeGraw wrote a song together. "We Both Know" will be featured on the soundtrack to the upcoming Nicholas Sparks movie Safe Haven. Gavin DeGraw says, "I think we have a real Dolly Parton/Kenny Rogers thing going on for this generation. We have a really special chemistry and you can really hear it on this song."


2. Buckcherry - "Gluttony"

The lyrics are a bit rough and direct here, but the power of the solid rock sound is engaging. Rockers Buckcherry reached the top 10 of the album chart with their last two studio efforts. Those albums generated five top 20 rock hit singles.


3. Marsha Ambrosius - "Cold War"

Marsha Ambrosius, a former member of the duo Floetry, is one of the top English R&B vocalists. Her solo debut album Late Nights and Early Mornings was released in early 2011 to critical acclaim and reached #2 on the album chart. It included the top 3 R&B hit single "Far Away." "Cold War" is the first single from the upcoming album Friends and Lovers.


4. The Pretty Reckless - "Kill Me"

There is graphic language here, but actress / singer Taylor Momsen remains one of the most riveting young rock singers. Light Me Up, the debut album from The Pretty Reckless reached the top 10 on the UK album chart. The single "Make Me Wanna Die" was a #1 rock hit single in the UK. "Kill Me" is the first single from an upcoming second studio album by the group.


5. Skylar Grey - "C'mon Let Me Ride" featuring Eminem

Don't Look Down, the upcoming second studio album from singer-songwriter Skylar Grey has been long delayed. It is now slated for a spring 2013 release. The new single features a guest vocal from Eminem and was produced by celebrated UK producer Alex Da Kid.

6. Michael Buble and Bing Crosby - "White Christmas"

Michael Buble's second TV Christmas special aired earlier this week. Through the magic of technology he performed a duet with Bing Crosby on the legendary holiday classic "White Christmas." The original Bing Crosby recording is one of the best selling songs of all time.

A Rocket To the Moon broke into the top half of the US album chart with their first release On Your Side in 2009. The group has toured extensively to build their fan base. "Ever Enough" is the first single from an upcoming second studio album by the band titled Wild and Free. It is expected in stores in late January 2013.


8. Hey Ocean! - "Big Blue Wave"

Hey Ocean! are a Canadian indie pop band. "Big Blue Wave" was the group's first chart single at home in Canada. It reached #40 on the Canadian alternative chart in 2011. The song is featured on the full-length album Is.

9. Cimorelli - "Believe It"

Cimorelli is a group composed of six sisters. They first gained notice by posting video covers of hit pop songs on YouTube. Their entire family consists of 11 children and they moved to southern California in 2010 to help the girls pursue their musical career. "Believe It" is the title song from a new four song EP.

10. Melanie Amaro - "Long Distance"

Melanie Amaro was the winner of the first season of X Factor in the US. She has reached the top 10 of the dance chart twice, but thus far has failed to make a significant dent on mainstream pop charts. Her debut album is expected in early 2013.
