Top 10 New Pop Songs June 4, 2013


20 year old Miley Cyrus has returned. Her new single leads off this week's top new pop songs. It looks like an instant hit.

Between 2007 and 2010 teenage Miley Cyrus landed in the top 10 on the pop singles chart five times and became one of the biggest teen pop stars of all time. She then put her solo recording career on a three year hiatus. Now she is back in fine form, and it looks like "We Can't Stop" is a hit.


2. Parachute - "Can't Help"

Pop-rock band Parachute created a buzz with their first album Losing Sleep in 2009. It included the gold certified top 20 adult pop hit "She Is Love." The group followed it up with three more top 20 adult pop hit singles. "Can't Help" is a single from Parachute's upcoming third studio album.


3. Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso - "MU Roar"

"MU Roar" is a dance track from the soundtrack to the upcoming animated movie Monsters University. Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso are former members of Swedish House Mafia. The dance music trio hit the pop top 10 in the US with the huge hit single "Don't You Worry Child" in 2012.


4. Mika - "Live Your Life"

Pop singer-songwriter Mika has released three studio albums. They all reached the top 50 in the US. Mika has been announced as a mentor on the Italian version of X Factor. It is expected that "Live Your Life" will be included on an upcoming fourth studio album.

5. Robin Thicke - "For the Rest Of Your Life"

Robin Thicke is riding high with his big uptempo hit single "Blurred Lines." Now he turns in a minimalist romantic direction with the new single "For the Rest Of Your Life." He croons in his trademark falsetto pledging love forever. The song will be included on the upcoming Blurred Lines album.


6. Megan and Liz - "Release You"

20 year old twins Megan and Liz Mace first gained attention from posting cover versions of classic songs on YouTube. A debut album Look What You Started is expected later this year and it will include the single "Release You."


7. Cassadee Pope - "Wasting All These Tears"

Cassadee Pope first came to prominence in the music industry as lead vocalist of the pop punk group Hey Monday. She competed as a solo artist in the third season of The Voice and was crowned winner in December 2012. She chose country singer Blake Shelton as her mentor, and has turned her solo career in a country direction signing to the label Republic Nashville. Four of her songs from the show reached the country chart. "Wasting All These Tears" is the first single from Cassadee Pope's upcoming debut solo album.


8. Skylar Grey - "Wear Me Out"

Skylar Grey's album Don't Look Down is expected to hit stores this July. "Wear Me Out" is the second single released from the collection. It was produced by veteran pop producer J.R. Rotem.


9. Pet Shop Boys - "Vocal"

Pet Shop Boys first hit charts around the world in 1984 and have been one of the most successful electronic dance music acts of all time. Their upcoming album Electric is the duo's twelfth studio collection. This is their first album to not be released on Parlophone and is being released instead on the Pet Shop Boy's own x2 label. "Vocal" is the second song released from the project.


10. Todd Terry - "This Is Acid Man"

Todd Terry is a legendary dance music producer and remixer who was one of the architects of the Acid House movement of the late 1980s and early 1990s. His new single on Tommy Boy is a tongue in cheek return to that sound.
