Top 10 Tracks To Download This Week October 12, 2005

October 12, 2005

One of the best things about today's online music services is the opportunity to purchase individual songs for unlimited listening regardless of whether or not they have been released as a single. Each week I uncover some of the best pop tracks to download from online music services. The music will range widely across pop genres. The tracks listed may not be available at all of the major online music services.

Read lists from previous weeks.

1. Backstreet Boys - Crawling Back To You

It's a classic Backstreet Boys ballad from the album Never Gone, and now it's been selected as a hurricane relief single. Buy and download this one and feel good on top of getting a pleasing pop tune.

2. Black Eyed Peas featuring Justin Timberlake - My Style

If you've had enough of "My Humps" for now, dig a little deeper into the Peas' Monkey Business set for this funky collaboration with Mr. Timberlake.

3. Fall Out Boy - Of All the Gin Joints In All the World

Does anyone punctuate punk pop with better "Oh's" than Fall Out Boy lead vocalist Patrick Stump? If you can't get enough of "Sugar, We're Goin' Down," this is more where that came from.

4. Franz Ferdinand - I'm Your Villain

Your 80's rock dreams come true with Franz Ferdinand. This track from the album You Could Have It So Much Better will drive you crazy with its mood shifting.

5. Hanson - Where's the Love (Live)

This is still as great a pop song as when it came out the first time in the 90's. Hanson are older and more prone to stretching out a bit as musicians. The live feel makes it all vibrant and fresh.

6. Alicia Keys with Adam Levine - Wild Horses

Alicia Keys' new Unplugged album is simply gorgeous. The contributions of everyone's-favorite-duet-partner Adam Levine of Maroon 5 lifts this take on the Rolling Stones' classic to another level.

7. Ricky Martin - Life

Ricky Martin's new album Life should have you taking another look. The title track, written by Martin himself, is loose, jangly pop.

8. Alanis Morissette - Crazy

Alanis covering Seal? It works much much better than you might expect. A throbbing mix coupled with classic vocal intensity from Alanis Morissette makes this sound great and work great on the dancefloor.

9. Nickelback - Rock Star

This is one of the lighter moments from All the Right Reasons, the bestselling album in the country this week. Nickelback explain just exactly what rock stars want and need.

10. System Of a Down - Hypnotize

This is the heaviest rock in this week's list of download tracks. If you can't wait for the next album, this is the lead single and it is another time-shifting instant classic from the band.
