Top 10 New Pop Albums June 19, 2012

18 year old Justin Bieber is one of the most commercially successful teen artists of all time. His first two full-length studio albums both hit #1 and were certified platinum. Three consecutive promo singles for Believe hit the top 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the official single "Boyfriend" hit #2.

Fiona Apple is one of the most critically acclaimed of pop singer-songwriters. Her first three studio albums were also all top 20 chart hits. The full title of her fourth album is The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than the Driver of the Screw and Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do. It includes the single "Every Single Night."

Glen Hansard first gained acclaim as guitarist and vocalist for the Irish rock band The Frames. As one half of the duo The Swell Season with Marketa Irglova he won an Academy Award for Best Original Song with "Falling Slowly" from the film Once. A stage adaptation of Once won eight Tony Awards this year including Best Musical. Rhythm and Repose is Glen Hansard's first solo album.

Despite her relative lack of commercial success in the US, Kylie Minogue is one of the world's top pop stars. This new collection includes her biggest hits with the US top 10s "The Loco-Motion" and "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" among them.

Kenny Chesney has released seven consecutive studio albums that reached #1 on the country album chart. That includes all of his studio albums over the last decade. Six of those also hit #1 on the overall chart. Welcome To the Fishbowl includes the top 10 country hit "Come Over."

Smashing Pumpkins are one of the most celebrated rock bands of the past 20 years. Their last five studio albums have reached the top 10. 13 of the group's songs have hit the top 10 on the alternative songs chart. Group leader Billy Corgan has said Oceania is the band's best album since the nine million selling 1995 landmark Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.

Reggae rock band Dirty Heads hit #1 on the alternative songs chart in 2010 with their single "Lay Me Down" from the band's first album Any Port In a Storm. The album reached the top 60 on the album chart.

For the 4th of July, gospel artist BeBe Winans has released a set of reverent, traditional interpretations of some of the top patriotic songs of all time. His family the Winans are one of the most prominent families in the history of gospel music.

Lita Ford was lead guitarist for the groundbreaking all female rock band The Runaways. The group also included Joan Jett. As a solo artist Lita Ford has reached the rock songs top 40 in the US six times. Her 1988 album Lita was certified platinum. Lita Ford says Living Like a Runaway is a return to the basics of punk and metal.
