Matchbox Twenty's first new studio album in nearly a decade leads off this year's top new releases. It gives us all flashbacks to the rock of the 1990s.
1. Matchbox Twenty - North
It has been nearly 10 years since the release of the last all-new studio album from rock band Matchbox Twenty. The group's first three studio albums all reached the top 10 and have been certified multi-platinum. North includes the top 10 adult pop radio single "She's So Mean."
2. Imagine Dragons - Night Visions
Night Visions is the first full-length studio album from Las Vegas based alternative pop band Imagine Dragons. The album includes the single "It's Time" which has climbed into the top 10 on both the alternative and rock songs charts. It will be featured on the season four debut episode of Glee.
3. Melissa Etheridge - 4th Street Feeling
4th Street Feeling is the 12th studio album from rocker Melissa Etheridge. Three of her albums have reached the top 10 including the most recent Fearless Love. Four of her singles have reached the top 10 on the adult pop chart. Melissa Etheridge has been nominated for 15 Grammy Awards and won two.
4. Cat Power - Sun
It has been four years since critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Cat Power's last studio album Jukebox. It was her biggest chart success and reached #12 on the Billboard album chart. The recording of Sun began six years ago and was interrupted a number of times before reaching completion.
5. Chris Wallace - Push Rewind
Chris Wallace is best known as the lead vocalist for the pop rock band The White Tie Affair. The band released the album Walk This Way in 2008. Push Rewind is his first album effort as a solo artist.
6. Dave Stewart - The Ringmaster General
Dave Stewart remains best known as one half of the band Eurythmics. However, he has recorded extensively outside of that project. This new album was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee. It includes music that is a blend of genres including rock, country, blues, and R&B.
7. Bob Mould - Silver Age
Bob Mould first gained strong acclaim as leader of the seminal alternative rock band Husker Du in the 1980s. Silver Age is his 10th solo album. This is his first album released on the independent record label Merge Records.
8. Lecrae - Gravity
Lecrae is one of the top Christian hip hop artists. Gravity is his sixth studio album. The last two studio albums reached the top 20 on the Billboard album chart. His last three topped the gospel albums chart. Among the guest artists on Gravity is rapper Big K.R.I.T.
9. Two Door Cinema Club - Beacon
Two Door Cinema Club are an indie rock band from Northern Ireland. The group's debut album Tourist History was an international success and certified gold in the UK. The single "What You Know" reached #22 on the alternative songs chart in the US. Beacon's first single "Sleep Alone" has reached the top 25 of the alternative songs chart.
10. Tanita Tikaram - Can't Go Back
British singer-songwriter Tanita Tikaram blasted into the pop mainstream in 1988 as a 19 year old with her single "Twist In My Sobriety." She has followed it with eight more top 100 chart singles since 1988. Can't Go Back is her eighth studio album.
