The five members of the group 1432 entered the X Factor USA competition as solo performers. After they were all eliminated the judges called them back to form a group heading into the judges' houses segment of the show. Originally the group was named Lylas, but they were forced to change their name after finding it conflicted with the name of Bruno Mars' backup singers. As he advanced 1432 to the audience voting rounds, Simon Cowell, the group's mentor, announced he did not like the 1432 name and he would ask fans to suggest another name change.
40 year old Vino Alan is the father of a 15 year old son. He has sung in performances to entertain military audiences. Vino Alan is the oldest of the contestants to advance to the final 12.
Jason Brock has been referred to as "Mr. Entertainment" for his flamboyant performance style. His mentor L.A. Reid has seemed to have some difficulty in identify songs that are a good fit for Jason Brock, but he was selected to advance to the final 12 after singing for his life against David Correy.
Emblem3 is made up of the brothers Wesley and Keaton Stromberg along with their friend Drew Chadwick. The group hail from Huntington Beach, California. Their mentor Simon Cowell has generated a lot of positive hype around the trio. Emblem3 performed "Sunset Boulevard," an original song written by Drew Chadwick, at their first audition.
21 year old CeCe Frey has undergone significant changes in both her appearance and approach to performing with advice from her mentor Demi Lovato. She removed trademark leopard spots painted on to the side of her head and is striving to appear more likable when performing. The result is that CeCe Frey was chosen to be one of the top 12 finalists.
Jennel Garcia has emerged as a rock-oriented singer with a powerful, full-throated voice. The 18 year old is from Rochester, Massachusetts and she auditioned in Providence, Rhode Island.
The trio Lyric 145 were formed by the mentors by putting together the hip hop duo One4Five and solo rapper Lyric Da Queen after all three were initially eliminated from the competition. They performed a stunning rapped version of Miley Cyrus' hit "Party In the USA" in the judges' homes segment of the competition.
Beatrice Miller is one of two 13 year olds to advance to the final 12 of X Factor. During bootcamp she was paired with Carly Rose Sonenclar to perform "Pumped Up Kicks," and both have advanced to the final 12.
17 year old Arin Ray advanced to the final 12 in the first season of X Factor. However, then he was part of the group InTENsity formed from previously eliminated solo singers. He had to sing for his life in the first round of live shows, but mentor Britney Spears chose him to advance to the final 12.
Carly Rose Sonenclar
Carly Rose Sonenclar, along with Beatrice Miller, is one of two 13 year olds remaining in the competition. She is an actor who has appeared in Broadway theater as well as having small roles in movies and TV shows. With her past experience many consider Carly Rose Sonenclar to be one of the favorites to win the competition.
37 year old Tate Stevens is the only country singer among the X Factor final 12. He and fellow over 25 finalist Vino Alan are both from Missouri.
22 year old Paige Thomas from San Antonio, Texas is the mother of a 3 year old. She is in school studying to be a nurse. Paige Thomas was the first of the contestants to perform in the first round of live performances.
